[Review] Boots for the Workin’ Woman: The Verona by Muck Boot Company

With the type of work I do, I’ve always been required to wear some sort of work boot. I prefer leather work boots, but something that has a little bit of water proofness or water resistance is a huge bonus. I work sun up to sun down most every day of the summer and finding a work boot that can keep up with me and protect my feet has always been a challenge. Always, until now. Muck Boot recently came out with the Verona. An ankle high, water-resistant leather boot, lined with neoprene and built on a rubber outsole.

I feel like the Verona was made for me. While protection and comfort are the most important factors of the boots I wear, I’m also a woman so naturally I wanted style too.

Let’s touch on the comfort first. I’ve accepted the fact that after 16 hours in a boot, my feet are just going to hurt. That is no longer the case. The Verona’s are the first boots I’ve had that are not killing my feet by the end of the day. Some may question working with this heal (1 inch) but it’s just like any other work boot I’ve tried.

The water resistance has saved me many times, as I work with water and agricultural liquids all day. If I’m washing the airplane and overspray gets on to my boots, my feet won’t get wet. If I stand in a puddle that is 12 inches deep, eventually my feet will get wet. If you plan to get the Verona as a casual boot and not a work boot, they are perfect for wet winter snows and the water won’t soak through.

The inner neoprene lining which is common throughout Muck Boots is something that I find very comfortable. It’s very breathable. At first I worried that on 90 degree work days with 100% humidity, the Verona’s would be too hot. That is not the case at all. Yes, my feet will sweat in that heat but that would be the case no matter what I have on my feet. I don’t however, feel as though my feet get overly hot because of the neoprene. It’s a well-regulating material that adjusts with your temp.

The rubber outsole is absolutely key when I’m looking for a boot to work in. It is perfect for climbing up and down and all around the airplane and ensures my safety when there is even the slightest bit of water on the wing. I’ve climbed up on the airplane over 600 times already in these boots and the soles have yet to show wear from that. Tyson usually goes through two pairs of shoes throughout the summer because of the materials on the airplane cutting through his soles.

As far as sizing goes, Muck Boot does not offer half sizes in these boots but don’t let that scare you! I am usually an 8.5 and the size 8 fits me perfectly.

It’s hard to explain what I do in a few simple paragraphs but believe me when I say I absolutely put these boots through the wringer this summer. I can’t believe how well they stood up to the abuse. Looking over the rubber outsole today, it is clear to see that these boots, like every other Muck Boot I’ve ever worn, are made with high quality materials.

Whether you’re wearing these out to the bars or out to your jobsite, the Veronas will keep you looking stylish while protecting your feet from debris, water, and slips and falls. This is the first time I’ve not thrown a pair of boots away at the end of the summer and while they don’t look exactly as they did in the beginning, structurally they are the same boot as day one! Big thank you to the Muck Boot Company for finally making a stylish, high quality, boot with all of my necessities included.
