[Review] The Comstock Sunglasses by Smith

I’ve been eyeing the Comstock sunglasses made by Smith for quite some time now and am so excited to finally get some on my face. I honestly can’t say that I’ve ever worn a pair of Smith sunglasses but have always admired their style. I have, however, had Smith goggles for skiing for over four years now and they have withstood all the abuse I’ve put them through. I think it’s safe to say that I’ll still be wearing the Comstocks in four years. Not only because I love the look of them but also because of the durability of the frame and the nice tight fit.

Aside from the way they look, I absolutely love the ChromaPop polarized lens. I’ve honestly always thought the ChromaPop was a marketing effort but man was I so far off by thinking that. The ChromaPop is seriously amazing. Colors and contrasts just pop and give you an amazing viewing experience. Tyson will tell you that I’m always talking about it. It’s so good you’ll wish it were real life. Seriously, your life will be enhanced when you wear these and it feels so good. Not only do you get the enhancements, with the polarization your eyes will be protected from harmful rays.

I’ve worn these on a variety of days. From bluebird to flat light conditions, the bronze/brown tone of the lens is a very versatile tint. I have noticed with some of my other sunglasses that are comparable tints that on sunny days I will be squinting and in pain but not with these.

Besides putting time and thought into the beautiful design of the Comstocks, Smith makes sure you’re covered with added features so no matter what you’re doing, your sunglasses are keeping up. I love that I can wear these around town with my girlfriends and then go backcountry skiing and not have to change my shades.

The auto-lock hinge is a nice feature that helps with fit and eliminates flop. I feel that, most importantly, the auto-lock ensures a tight and secure fit of the sunglasses. The rubber nose pieces are very discrete however they also do a great job of making sure that no matter what you’re doing, these glasses aren’t coming off of your face. Whether I’m enjoying outdoor activities or hard at work, wearing sunglasses that won’t easily fall off of my face is key. These fit incredibly well and snug nicely to my noggin.

While I feel cute and stylish in the Comstocks, I definitely feel like a man could pull off this style. For me, that unisex benefit isn’t a great thing because I definitely don’t want Tyson stealing these!

Whether you’re looking for stylish sunglasses to hit the town with or sunglasses that you can wear skiing and then to après, the Comstocks will take on whatever you throw at them. If you are on the fence about ChromaPop, go ahead and jump onto the ChromaPop side, you won’t be disappointed. The color and contrast enhancement will make this beautiful world even more beautiful!
