[Review] The Skimo Pant by Montane

The perfect ski-mountaineering pant was conceived with the inception of Montane’s Skimo Pant. Amazing for long, aggressive tours, or mountaineering excursions, the Skimo is the best combination of comfort and technology.

The soft fleece inner lining makes these pants beyond comfortable, so comfortable, in fact, that if you had to wear nothing underneath you not only could, but you would enjoy it too.

The stretch Chameleon 4 fabric ensures for an amazing fit and the ability to move in even the most extreme situations. Chameleon 4 is waterproof, windproof, and with optimal breathability, the fabric also wicks moisture away from your skin. Along with the stretch fit and comfort, the knees are articulated for even better movement capabilities in the backcountry.

The fit of the Skimo pant is a performance fit and while sometimes I have sizing irregularities with Montane, I ordered my usual Large and they are the perfect fit. The tailored waist is even designed to reduce unnecessary fabric so you are getting the sleekest, fastest pant out there.

When you’re on your way up, the vents on the outer thigh will come in handy, allowing you to efficiently cool down. While the Skimo pants are packed with beneficial features for backcountry travel, the fit and feel of the pants are what won me over. As soon as you slip them on, the dreamy honeycomb pattern fleece inner will make all your worries disappear. The performance fit is great for long backcountry adventures and will make your ass look very nice (if it matters).

Check out Montane further for all of your backcountry needs. Whether you need a soft base layer, an enticingly warm down jacket, or the most waterproof pants, Montane has something for any adventure.
