[Review] The Turtle Shell 2.0 by Outdoor Tech

Over the past few months, we have really been able to put the Turtle Shell 2.0 speaker by Outdoor Tech to the ultimate test. From working in the garage, building a fence in the cold and windy spring that is Colorado, to camping in sandy Moab, the Turtle Shell will keep the tunes rolling no matter where you are.

The water resistant and dust resistant capabilities are a plus for us because we are generally encountering one or the other in the outdoor elements. This speaker can truly go anywhere with you, rain or shine.

The most impressive part of the Turtle Shell is the battery. We have left it in the garage (freezing temperatures), partly charged, for days on end. When we go to use it, after realizing it was living in the garage, we’re bummed because now we wont have tunes to get us through. With the outstanding battery of the Turtle Shell 2.0 however, it turns right on and keeps bumping the beat without question! It is truly crazy how long the battery will last without having to plug it in for a charge up.

While building a fence, we tested the durability of the Turtle Shell 2.0. It was falling, things were falling on it, and it was getting blasted with dust all day long. Not only did the elements not affect the sound quality of the Turtle Shell 2.0, but it didn’t have issues the next day.

The only downfall that we found with the Turtle Shell is that the range did not work so well for us. If we connect Pandora via an IPhone, put the iPhone in a pocket and walk 5 feet away, the Turtle Shell bounces in and out of playing music. Not a huge deal, for what we do with it, but if your intentions are different it could pose an incontinence.

If you’re looking to take a durable and capable speaker with you on your next outdoor adventure, whether you are boating or biking, hiking, or hanging, the Turtle Shell 2.0 will keep your tunes loud.
