[Review] The Women’s Alpha Range Boots by LaCrosse

A waterproof, rubber, high boot is a staple in my wardrobe no matter the season and the Women’s Alpha Range by LaCrosse fit the bill. The rubber outer is durable, the fit is comfortable, and the waterproofing is key to getting you through any environment you encounter.

I typically wear a size 8 and ordered the 8 based on some feedback that these fit true to size. They indeed fit true to size. I can also easily fit a thicker sock on in the winter months yet they still feel good on with a thinner sock. Not that these boots are necessarily marketed as a winter boot, I’ve worn them through some pretty cold temperatures and have been impressed with how they keep my feet warm. I have had rubber boots in the past that no matter how thick of a sock I wear in the winter, they are still too cold to be comfortable. Not the case with these! The multi-season versatility really makes these boots shine, in my opinion. If you’re looking for a dedicated winter boot, check out the Women’s Alpha Thermal.

Lacrosse has done a good job of making these a comfortable boot – whether you’re heading out for chores or taking your dog for a walk in the back forty, I’ve found these to be pretty supportive. The outsole isn’t an overly aggressive outsole but works well in mud, snow, ice, and dry surfaces. I will say that I’ve seen a little bit of wear on the sole that was surprising but I will be curious to see how they continue to wear. I wear these boots on concrete and asphalt a lot which will wear rubber soles. I will update this review in several months to see how the sole is wearing/holding up. Otherwise, I feel like these have held up extremely well and I have not treated them kindly! Rubber boots are my go-to use and abuse boots.

These boots have an adjustable calf gusset and to be honest, I think it’s a good idea with poor execution. I constantly catch the strap and either loosen it or it’s just flapping in the wind. It doesn’t really bother me, but I think I’d like the boots better without it. I think the adjustability is a wonderful offer, but wish the strap was a little bit more protected or hidden.

One thing I love that Lacrosse is doing is that they’ve added a tab on the heel of these boots to get them off with. In the past I’ve seen this as a wear point on boots and so having this tab there eliminates that! Plus it makes them easier to get off.

The combination of durable rubber with a neoprene upper makes these boots the ultimate versatile rubber boot no matter what you’re doing outside. You can trudge through anything – mud, snow, deep water – and your feet will stay dry and protected. The neoprene also offers a bit of adjustment as you can fold them down when it gets a bit warmer.

If you’re looking for a new rubber boot look no further than the Alpha Range by LaCrosse. They’re versatile and comfortable and easy to wear into any environment.
