[Review] Men’s Exposure/2 Paclite Plus Jacket by Mountain Hardwear

Mountain Hardwear’s Exposure/2 Paclite Plus Jacket, features a new 2.5-layer Gore-Tex, unmatched packability, waterproofness and breathability. Last year I tried the Exposure/2 Paclite and I didn’t think it could get any lighter. I was wrong. The Exposure/2 Paclite Plus Jacket is light and breathable and really soft up against the skin. With fully sealed seams, you won’t get wet no matter how gnar the conditions are.

The Exposure/2 Paclite Plus is a relatively simple jacket but it is sure to keep you dry and comfortable. There are no pit zips, but the pockets are lined with mesh to allow for airflow if you need it. The pockets are all zip closures and there are two hand pockets (compatible with a harness) and one zippered chest pocket.

As far as fit goes, I am 6’0 and 190 pounds and usually a size large. It was actually recommended I size down for this jacket so this is a medium. I like the fit a lot, and like that I don’t have a lot of extra material. If you’re looking to possibly layer under this jacket with an insulating layer, I would stay stick true to size. If you are looking for something to keep you dry in hot weather, size down one size.

My favorite thing about the Exposure/2 Paclite Plus is that it is so light and packable. It takes up virtually no space and can easily be thrown into a pack and forgotten about. One thing that I don’t love is that there is a soft storm flap for your chin on the zip at the top and the zipper gets caught on it. In order to zip all the way up, you have to consciously tuck the flap in.

Between the ridiculously lightweight 2.5-layer Gore-Tex, the nice fit and feel, and the fact that this jacket will keep you dry in any conditions, the Exposure/2 Paclite Plus Jacket will be in my pack for every adventure no matter what it is.
