[Review] The Macey Jacket by Orage

I had the opportunity this year to acquire the bigger sister to my all-time favorite jacket (The Retreat Jacket) and I couldn’t be happier. The Macey Jacket by Orage is a long down jacket for any adventure around town. If you live in a cold climate and you don’t yet have a longer (like almost knee length) jacket then you should really consider this upgrade. You’ll thank me later.

I wear the Macey Jacket around town or if I’m heading out for a walk with Hank on those really cold winter evenings. The 60/40 Duck Down insulation proves itself to be the best insulation for a winter jacket that you slip on when it’s -10°F out. I hope everyone has had the opportunity to have a down insulated winter jacket because it’s a real game changer.

The fit of this jacket is amazing and with the high collar zipped up, it feels as though you’re safe and warm from even the most brutal wind whipped snowstorms. The length falls perfectly and definitely adds protection from the elements. I am usually a size large in Orage and this jacket is no different! The sleeves are a perfect length and I don’t feel like I’m swimming in material in the torso area. I am 5’10 and 150 pounds. I have bigger hips/thighs and it’s worth mentioning that it doesn’t awkwardly tighten around my hips and is very flattering.

Aside from the fact that this jacket fits really well and keeps me warm no matter how cold it is outside, I think it’s an extremely nice looking jacket. Every year Orage produces a jacket (or 2) that I’m so in love with and think I’ll never wear anything else. Then the next year rolls around and they come up with something else that I totally love. It’s a dangerous cycle, but I stay stylish and warm in the winter months.

I would highly recommend the Macey Jacket if you live in or are traveling to a cold and wintery environment—especially if you have not yet invested in a longer winter jacket. You won’t be disappointed and Orage is affordable and accessible.
