[Review] The Original Puffy Blanket by Rumpl

The Original Puffy Blanket by Rumpl is a piece of gear that you live without for such a long time but when you get it – you wonder how you ever lived without it. Since acquiring a Rumpl Blanket, it’s been on many adventures with us and it’s hard to say who really loves it more, Hank or us. If you watch our video review, you’ll see that Hank won’t let it out of his sight.

The best thing about our Puffy Blanket is the fact that we’re not afraid to use it outside. We’ve found the 20D ripstop nylon shell to be extremely durable (we’ve been abusing our blankets for about 2 months now and they show no sign of wear) and it’s treated with DWR so if you find yourself in the elements, you’ll be slightly protected. While this blanket isn’t waterproof, we’ve found it to be pretty darn resistant to water, dirt, dog hair, and more.

We’ve been impressed with the durability and also the fact that we have yet to feel the need to wash our Puffy Blankets. They don’t even stink and considering that Hank always seems to be cuddling up to a blanket, that’s saying a lot (he stinks).

While the Original Puffy Blankets are insulated with synthetic insulation, Rumpl offers a lot of variety when it comes to the blanket game so be sure to check out the many options on their website.

The 1-person size is ideal for our adventures. If you’re on a couch it could comfortably cover 2 people (or 1 person and 1 dog). If you’re looking for more of a wrap me up like a hug sort of style, the 1-person is the perfect size for a solo person hanging around camp. If you’re like me and you’re a cold sleeper, this really helps to take the brisk edge off in the morning when you’re hanging around camp.

The 1-person also packs into a pretty nice size. It comes with a stuff sack so it’s easy to throw in your adventure rig and forget about it (until you’re chilled).

Whether you live in the desert or the mountains, coastal climates or tropics, it’s always a good idea to have a Puffy Blanket on hand.
