[Review] Men’s Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket & Bibs by Helly Hansen

The Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket and Bibs by Helly Hansen deserve a lot of praise and here’s why: with Helly’s LIFA INFINITY engineering they are pushing the boundaries in terms of what’s possible for the environmental impacts of gear, without compromising waterproofing and breathability. LIFA INFINITY is setting new standards in the industry for environmental impact. There’s a lot more than meets the eye with the Ridge Infinity Kit, so let’s get into it.

First and foremost, the Ridge is built with a waterproof and breathable membrane AND Helly’s 3-layer Helly Tech Professional construction. What does this mean for you? You are going to stay dry and comfortable no matter what the conditions present and whether you’re in bounds or out in the backcountry. The Ridge Shell Kit is easy to adjust to conditions with layering, but no matter how warm or cold or wet, your temp will stay regulated thanks to the amazing breathability of LIFA INFINITY.

The exterior of the Ridge Shell is made with 50% recycled material and a PFC-Free DWR treatment which is another win in the environmental impact department. I’ve always loved the build quality of Helly Hansen gear, and the Ridge Infinity is no different. As I’ve mentioned, Helly is working hard to reduce the environmental impact of gear without compromising quality. It’s evident when you throw the Ridge Infinity on for the first time. It feels bomb-proof, and won’t get beat up even when you start to abuse it.

Another aspect that Helly Hansen always hits out of the park is the sizing and fit of their gear. I love the way their outer layers fit and I’ve even told Cally “I feel like these were made just for my body.” I’m 6’0 tall and 195 pounds and I’m wearing a size large in the jacket and bibs. I will say that compared to past Helly jackets I’ve tried, the Ridge Infinity feels like a slightly tighter fit. It’s still a great fit, but just something I noticed if you’re going to be layering up a bunch underneath it.

The jacket and bibs have everything you need and nothing you don’t, including ample pockets, venting for airflow, a RECCO transponder, and more. The Ridge Jacket includes a Life Pocket, which is made with PrimaLoft Aerogel, to preserve your phone battery life throughout the day. I can hands down say this makes a huge difference in the battery life of my phone while skiing. Without the Life Pocket, my phone would be dead by about noon. With the Life Pocket, it lasts all day.
