[Review] The Wander Sunglasses by Smith

When it comes to my everyday sunglasses, I’m a fan of simple, versatile, and ones that you can dress down or wear all day at work. The Wander Sunglasses by Smith are a traditional round keyhole design that are simple, comfortable, and offer amazing protection with Smith’s Chromapop Polarized Black Lens.

Aside from the look, I am a huge fan of Smith’s ChromaPop Lens. Not only is this lens protecting my eyes from harmful UV rays, but they also enhance clarity and contrast and make for a very enjoyable viewing experience. Polarized lenses add the extra benefit of reducing glare, something that I would absolutely spring for if you’re around water or snow often. Even at places like the airport, I can notice a reduction in glare coming off the blacktop. Ultimately, this leads to long-term eye protection and less daily fatigue. If your eyes are in pain or tired at the end of a long day outside, it’s time to invest in a pair of ChromaPop Polarized lenses.

These sunglasses are light and fit my face extremely well. They’re made with a combination of bio-plastic and stainless steel. I’m not sure I’d really seek out a pair of sunglasses that mix both plastic and stainless steel, as most of my frames have been only plastic, but I like the finish of them and don’t really notice any weight differences (I’m guessing they are a bit heavier than an all plastic frame, but maybe not enough to notice).

What I love about Smith is that if you have a pair of sunglasses from them, you can usually use them for just about anything. As I said, these are great for all-day wear at work, on the water, hiking, mountain biking, or travel, or can be dressed up or used as a daily pair of sunglasses. These may not be the most bomb-proof sunglasses that Smith offers, but they will hold up to just about anything you want to throw at them. They have rubber nose pieces that help ensure they stay in place no matter what you’re doing. I’m actually trying to keep them as my nice sunglasses because I tend to abuse sunglasses and it’s nice to have a pair that stays in perfect shape.

The only complaint I have about these sunglasses is that sometimes I get a hair caught between the temple stainless steel piece and the rubber temple cover at the end of the temple. It’s kind of hard to explain, but once a hair gets caught there, it usually ends up ripping out when I take these off. I’m not really sure how this could be avoided and it really is a small complaint but one I thought I’d mention (mostly just in hopes that Smith sees this and avoids the same issue in the future).

If you’re looking for a pair of perfect, everyday sunglasses, look no further than the Wander by Smith. Not only are they cute and flattering, but they’re also comfortable and protect your eyes to the fullest extent. Tyson and I have also been riding with the Bobcat and Wildcat and so reviews of those sunglasses to follow shortly.
