[Review] The Women’s Abisko Midsummer Trousers by Fjällräven

The Fjällräven Abisko Midsummer Trousers are the hot weather trouser that I’ve needed in my life. Not only are they extremely comfortable, they’re pretty darn durable for how light they are and have key vents for airflow. These are perfect for hikes in hot weather where you still need and want the protection of long pants but want to stay cool. Most recently, these were perfect for our warm weekend of rock climbing.

My most notable takeaway with the Abisko Midsummer Trousers is that we were climbing really sharp rock and I didn’t want to wear shorts. I thought for sure in my clumsy style of climbing I would rip my Abisko Midsummer Trousers, however, they held up extremely well and came out of the weekend unscathed! These are built with Fjällräven’s G-1000 Air Stretch which means they’re light and breathable yet still protecting you from the elements.

The pockets and vents on these pants are ON POINT. The vents are the most amazing feature to me. A thigh zip on each leg to allow for some major airflow on the real hot days and a huge highlight for why these are ideal warm-weather travel/trekking/do anything pants (did I mention when zipped these vents are pretty much hidden?). The pockets are all amazing and large enough to actually fit stuff in, unlike typical women’s pants. The two hand pockets are zip closure, the thigh pocket is a zip closure (a personal favorite) and then there’s a snap closure pocket on the other thigh. There are no back pockets but I’m not putting things in my back pockets when I’m out in these pants anyway so one more way to avoid chafing or rubbing.

I’m going to classify these as a slim fit with a mid-rise. They’re a great fit and won’t get in your way no matter what you’re doing. The bottom cuff even cinches down which is amazing for climbing among other things. I’m 5’10 and 155 pounds and usually a size 8 in pants. I wear  Fjällräven’s 40 consistently across the line. Whether you’re heading out for a canoe trip where you’ll face mosquitos head-on, trekking into elevations unknown in the summer, or just looking for a do-anything warm weather pant, I highly recommend the Abisko Midsummer Trousers by Fjällräven. You won’t overheat and your movement won’t be restricted. Be sure to check out more Fjällräven reviews here.
