[Review] Ignition Cover & Clutch Cover Guards by BulletProof Carbon

After one incident of cracking a case out on the trail, I will never not have guards on both my ignition and clutch covers. Luckily I was able to repair the crack on the trail and get the bike back without issue but the repair at home was easily $100. Now, for $59 (ignition) and $69 (clutch), having ignition and clutch cover guards is a no-brainer. BulletProof uses high-quality materials, ensures proper bike-specific fit, and reinforced areas where needed. The install for these carbon guards is easy and quick.

BulletProof’s Ignition Cover Guard and Clutch Cover Guard both fit like a glove and are made exactly to fit my 2018 Beta Xtrainer. I was impressed overall with the fit and finish and not to mention the added protection. BulletProof is doing a couple of things to ensure that these guards provide ultimate protection. For one, BulletProof uses carbon not available to the public, carbon that is used in both military applications and aviation. Carbon is both intensely light and incredibly strong.

BulletProof carbon guards also have “superior energy absorption capabilities, spreading the impact forces over the surface of the guard instead of directing it to the part it should protect” (http://www.motogpworld.com). Along with the carbon absorbing the impact, the high temp rtv used to install the guards also helps with the absorption of impact.

The install of these guards is very easy and straightforward. Simply clean your stock covers really well with alcohol or similar. Once your surface is prepped, take your high-temp rtv and lay a bead around the entire guard. Also make sure to lay an “X” shape across the center. You want to make sure that your bead around the outside of the guard is complete because you do not want any debris getting between your cover and guard. Let the gasket set up for 24 hours and then you are ready to ride! After my install I felt as though my guards were super solid and not coming off anytime soon.

After about 300 miles of riding, I could already see slight areas of wear/scratches on the guards but that is to be expected and the intention of having the guards there! I’m so glad that I don’t have to worry about scuffing up or worse yet, damaging a cover while I’m out riding. The Ignition Cover Guard and Clutch Cover Guard are both easy to install, affordable, and offer superior to stock protection. Add them now to avoid an expensive repair down the road plus keep your stock parts looking fresh! Check out the different parts that BulletProof offers for different bike models.
