[Review] The Down Travel Blanket by Wild Breed Equipment

The Down Travel Blanket by Wild Breed Equipment is going with us everywhere these days. With 100% Duck Down Filling, a 20D Ripstop Nylon shell and all the warmth you’d ever want, the Down Travel Blanket takes the edge off cold days or nights.

Personally, I prefer down over synthetic, as it’s extremely warm for the weight. The down also allows this blanket to be very packable and light, which is ideal for travel. The down that Wild Breed Equipment uses is sustainably sourced and treated and measures in at a 650 fill power. Wild Breed is stating that this blanket is ideal for temps down to 35˚. We use this as a supplement to our many camp systems. Whether we are in the camper, tent camping, or even at home on the couch, it’s a great option to have for those colder days and nights (if we can steal it back from Hank, that is).

For us, this size is perfect. The 55” by 85” measurement (equivalent to a twin bed size) is ideal for a single person to cuddle up with without there being a lot of blanket spilling over to the ground. This is also a good “throw” size for our camper bed, and Hank thinks that it’s big enough to cover him completely when he’s sleeping.

The most notable feature is the fact that this super warm blanket packs down to 4” by 7” and only weighs a pound. Thanks to the down insulation, the blanket is pretty dang packable! We love that the stuff sack is also water resistant so it protects the blanket. This blanket is easy to pack on almost any adventure!

The 20D Ripstop Nylon Shell is huge for us. It’s also treated with DWR, which will repel water, dirt, dust, and even dog hair! Between the terrain we’re traveling in (desert sand, snowy ski resort parking lots, and muggy Midwest lakes) and Hank, we can use all the help we can get when it comes to keeping gear look new. Since Hank is always the first to claim our Down Travel Blanket, it’s really nice that it easily repels his hair and dirt. One shake outside and it’s back to looking like new.

If you’re like me and always cold on airplanes, this would be an ideal blanket to throw in your carry on. For us, it’s tent camping and exploring with the camper where we always find ourselves using the Down Travel Blanket. The options for use are literally endless. For $99 you’re getting a high quality down blanket that is packable and will stay looking new for many adventures to come thanks to the 20D Ripstop Nylon + DWR treatment. The only thing we’d like to see from Wild Breed Equipment is more color options in the future.

I have the Wild Breed blanket and it is as versatile as the author suggests. It is an adult security blanket given the number of ways it gives me protection and comfort!
