[Review] El Jefe by Native

When I first saw the El Jefe Sunglasses by Native, I thought they had my name written all over them. With a two-tone matte black and gloss black frame, they’re incredibly stylish with a pop of color in the lens – gotta have that pop of color no matter what! Not only are you getting a nice stylish pair of sunglasses, they’re built with high-quality materials that will stand up to the abuse you may throw at them.

I love the look of the Violet Reflex lenses but they’re also not your typical polarized lens. Native’s N3 lenses “block up to 4X more infrared light than regular polarized lenses, pass Z87.1 testing, provide UV protection up to 400nm, and by significantly reducing blue light and selectively filtering UV, they deliver high contrast, crisp definition, and peak visual acuity” (www.natvieeyewear.com).

What I love about all of my Native sunglasses and most recently the El Jefes, is that I can wear these around town and then throw them on with my moto helmet and go for a ride. I know that I’m getting ultimate protection for my eyes with the N3™ lenses but also a durable frame that will stand up to some activity AND I don’t look like a total goober when I get off the trails and head into town. The El Jefe sunglasses are an extremely versatile pair of glasses while looking like a stylish and sleek pair of sunglasses that’d I’d wear around town.

It’s also worth mentioning that if you’re like me and you can’t just keep a pair of sunglasses nice for low impact activity, Native has a sweet lifetime limited warranty. They won’t replace or fix your sunglasses for free but they will do it at a small cost to you. This is nice knowing that when you spend over $100 on a pair of sunglasses they’re not totally done for if you happen to scratch a lens out doing what you love.

I love the style of the El Jefes and feel like they’re the perfect streamlined yet boxy frame shape. Paired with the matte black and gloss black two-tone and the violet reflex lenses, these have definitely been the glasses I’ve been reaching for most recently. Wear them to work then wear them on your after work mountain bike ride – your eyes will be protected all the while you’ll be looking stylish.
