[Review] The Antares HD Sleeping Bag by Therm-a-rest

If you thought a comfortable, three season, 750+ fill down sleeping bag, couldn’t get any better, you thought wrong.  The Antares HD Sleeping Bag by Therm-a-rest includes the best features one could pack into a sleeping bag but also includes SynergyLink Connectors which will ensure you will never roll off your sleeping pad again!

Combined with the Therm-a-rest NeoAir Trekker SV Sleeping pad, this has to be the most comfortable sleeping combo I’ve ever had.  It’s comfortable, and that’s the most notable thing I realized the first time I slept in it.  Measuring in at 78 inches, the length is perfect for myself at 6′.  I could’ve probably gotten away with the Regular length, but I would rather have extra length than not enough.

I really love that the width of the bag is 64 inches.  I have somewhat broad shoulders and I never feel cramped in the bag.  It is nice to have some space (I move around a lot) and I feel that while this is still  technically considered a mummy bag, it is on the roomy end of the mummy style.

The Antares HD Long is relatively lightweight weighing in at 2 pounds and 2 ounces and I feel like for how it feels (major comfort level) it packs down pretty well.  The draft collar and full-length zipper draft tube are pretty impressive.  Cally was originally very impressed by her included collar in her current sleeping bag but when she tried my Antares, she was blown away.  The collar really helps to trap the heat and it makes you wonder, why didn’t anyone do it sooner?!

The stated comfort range of the Antares HD is 27 degrees Fahrenheit. I can’t comment for sure on this as the coldest camping I’ve done in this particular system was only down around 35 degrees.  On 40 degree nights I was sweating but I am a hot sleeper so not an accurate testament to judge by.

If you’re ready for a new sleep system, look no further than the amazingly comfortable Anatares HD 3-season sleeping bag and the NeoAir Trekker SV sleeping pad.  You won’t want to get out of bed in the morning, even if there are eggs and bacon cooking over the campfire just footsteps from your tent door.

[…]  I’d rather have more material than less so I went with the Long for both the pad and my Antares HD Sleeping bag.  Weighing in at 2 pounds, it’s not the most lightweight sleeping pad on the market […]
