[Review] The Rock Prodigy Elite Package by Trango

While most people are out enjoying summertime and all the activities that come with the warm days and late nights, we are working on the border of North Dakota and Minnesota. We don’t necessarily have a lot of free time and we definitely don’t have access to world-renowned climbing – or any climbing for that matter. Having the Rock Prodigy Elite Package by Trango set up on our forklift (haha) brings more enjoyment to our summer as well as some extra strength training so when we get back to Colorado in the fall we aren’t completely done for after one climb.

The Rock Prodigy Package is perfect for someone who is just starting down the training path and doesn’t know where or how to start. We’ve not recently trained for rock climbing and so getting the full package – complete with the Rock Climber’s Training Manual – was a great place to start. The pulley system is perfect for Cally because she can start learning technique and practicing with counterweight. Not only does the pulley system help build confidence, it also reduces the risk of injury right off the bat.

Probably the greatest thing about the Rock Prodigy Package is that it can truly be mounted anywhere. The package comes with everything you need and the fact that we were able to make a mount for it to go on the forklift is awesome! This is also helpful for someone just starting out, because we can lift the kit up and down as needed for skill level.

It’s really nice that the hangboard consists of two separate pieces so that it can be adjusted to your specific shoulder width. The Triple-Texture outer material “provides tacky grip where you want it, while minimizing skin irritation” (www.trango.com). Compared to other hangboards I’ve used in the past, it is definitely worth mentioning that while the texture of the board is not at all slippery, it doesn’t feel like sandpaper against your skin.

The provided Rock Climber’s Training Manual by Mark and Mike Anderson is comprehensive yet written in a way that beginners new to the sport can understand and find useful. All of the knowledge shared is coming from two very experienced climbers and trainers and can help you take your skill to the next level – no matter what level you’re starting at.

If you’re looking for a way to step up your game, strength, and stamina in rock climbing, look no further than the Rock Prodigy Elite Package by Trango. It has everything you need to have a beneficial training setup and even includes an extremely comprehensive training manual so you know where to start. Whether you’re stuck on your progression or stuck in a place that doesn’t offer climbing of any sort, the Rock Prodigy kit will encourage you to have some fun while building strength no matter where you are!
