[Review] Slytech Protection: ElbowPro NoShock Lite and KneePro NoShock XT Lite

When I was a kid, my parents forced me to wear full protection (helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads) when doing anything cool like biking or roller blading with my cool neighbors who didn’t have to wear any kind of protection. I didn’t appreciate it at the time as it certainly conflicted with my coolness factor, but I do now because I don’t have scars on my elbows and knees. Thanks to Slytech Protection, I can keep on protecting my skin from inevitable falls.

Tyson and I have both been lucky enough to try out the KneePro NoShock XT Lite and the ElbowPro NoShock Lite. Not only do they give ample protection with their honeycomb cone structure, they are also very comfortable and easy to wear unlike the pads I had in the 90’s.

The silicone stripping on the top of the pads keeps them in place where they need to be and the expanding material helps with the key fit as well. In addition to the materials used, another key feature to a pad that fits well is the actual pad itself. The 2ND SKiN ™ XT Foam not only conforms to your structure, but it is not overly bulky.

The honeycomb design also allows for airflow and breathability, so not matter what conditions you’re riding in, your body will still be able to regulate your temperature. We’ve mostly been wearing our Slytech Protection for mountain biking but, with Tyson’s teleskiing, he likes to wear kneepads especially early season. With how unobtrusive these are, they are perfect for skiing!

We have noticed that if you leave these in your car or garage overnight and the temperatures are low, they will be very stiff when you go to put them on the next morning. They don’t take too long to warm up and as long as they are against your skin in colder weather, they won’t get hard while you’re wearing them.

The sizing on both the ElbowPro and KneePro is what I would call slim pickings. I guess they adapt well though, however because Tyson’s arms and legs are a bit bigger than mine and the L/XL size fits us both equally well (and we both fall into the same size on the size chart). There are only two size options—S/M and L/XL—but like I said, it must work fine seeing as how the one size fits both of us well.size-chart-both If you’re looking for non-obtrusive, comfortable and form fitting protective pads for any activity you’re embarking on, look no further than Slytech Protection’s NoShock Lite line. They will protect you fall after fall and won’t annoy you with their fit. Use these pads for year round, multi-sport protection…your parents will be proud.
