[Review] The Antler Gloves by Gordini

For me, the key to a happy day outside in the winter is to ensure that my hands stay nice and warm. It isn’t always easy to do, but since getting the Antler Gloves by Gordini, it’s not such a hard feat to achieve. The Antler Gloves will not only keep your hands warm and toasty no matter the conditions, but they’re also amazingly soft inside and out.

Made with deerskin leather you won’t want to go back to anything but deerskin leather after wearing the Antler Gloves. Deerskin leather is soft and nimble and requires no break-in period. For someone like myself with smaller hands, tough leather gloves can actually be painful!

The reinforcement areas of the gloves ensure that there is durability where you need it most. I do think that deerskin leather is easier to wear than cow leather but for me, the trade-off is soft, delicate leather. With that said, Gordini is helping to protect the life of these gloves by placing reinforcements in high wear areas.

I’m not normally someone who would wear larger gauntlet style gloves while I’m skiing but the Antler Gloves have definitely swayed my opinion a bit. Because of the design of the gauntlet and the cinching mechanisms, the Antler Gloves are easy to get on and off and easy to cinch down to ensure that no POW is getting inside the gloves. It’s also definitely worth mentioning that releasing the tightened buckles/clasps is super easy, especially with the gloves on. This is one thing that people often forget about. You can get them on, but can you get them off?

I’m a total noob when it comes to glove leashes and I personally think it’s the best thing since sliced bread. The elastic straps comfortably fit around my wrist and prevent me from losing a glove. For taking photos in the backcountry, I especially love the leashes. I can take my gloves off and shoot some footie and not have to fumble around trying to figure out what to do with my gloves before eventually just giving up and throwing them in the snow.

The Antler Gloves are made with Primaloft® insulation which brings a couple of benefits to the table. First of all, Primaloft is really warm without the weight and bulk. For gloves especially, this is key! You want them as warm as possible but you still want to be able to move your fingers independently. Primaloft also still works to keep you warm even if it gets wet.

One thing I would suggest doing with these gloves is coating them with a waterproof wax. I do that with all of my ski gloves and mittens regardless of waterproofing capabilities just to ensure maximum protection.
