[Review] The Bobcat Sunglasses by SMITH

This is the first time ever that I have a pair of sunglasses that I’ve specifically gotten for mountain biking. I’ve kind of always just made do with what sunglasses I have, and now I realize what a mistake that was. To have sunglasses that stay on my face and in place while riding, even while sweating profusely, while protecting my eyes, has been such a nice change. The Bobcat Sunglasses by Smith are my new go-to’s for mountain biking, backcountry skiing, running, and even water sports (when I know I won’t lose them).

The Bobcats offer full coverage, but for smaller faces. If you have a larger face, check out the big brother to these, the Wildcats. I like that I can get that stylish oversized look, but without having a pair of sunglasses that are excessively huge on my face.

Most importantly, the Bobcats are built with Chromapop lenses which provide 100% protection from harmful UVA/B/C Rays. In addition to offering protection, Chromapop also boosts contrasts and colors which give you an amazing viewing experience (even on those lower light days). You can opt for the Bobcat with a few different lenses, but I really dig the Violet Mirror Lens because it’s ideal for medium to bright exposure. I feel like even on partly cloudy or cloudy days, I can ride with this lens and not feel like it’s too dark.

A huge bonus to the Bobcat Sunglasses is that they come with a clear lens for low light days or night riding. You can also purchase different lenses to interchange depending on the lighting. This is also awesome because if you accidentally happen to wreck a lens, you don’t have to purchase an entirely new pair of sunglasses.

The Bobcats are built with Evolve which is a bio-based frame material. It’s lightweight yet will endure some abuse. The best part about these sunglasses is that they won’t slip off your face, no matter how sweaty you are, thanks to the Megol temples and nose pieces. The nose pieces are also adjustable to two different positions so you can dial in the fit depending on your face shape.

I wear the Bobcats with the Smith Session Helmet and it’s a sweet pair. I’ve never had fogging issues with this combo. The Bobcats allow for ample airflow and with the Session’s strategically placed venting, there’s less opportunity for fogging. If you’re looking for a lightweight, comfortable, full-coverage pair of sunglasses for any outdoor activity, the Bobcat should be your go-to. If you’re interested in purchasing the Bobcat by Smith, doing so using our provided link supports us as we get a small kickback from your purchase. We appreciate the support!
