[Review] The Vector Helmet by Black Diamond

If you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable, and well-fitting climbing helmet, look no further than the Vector Helmet by Black Diamond.  Between the ratchet adjuster quick fit system, the ventilation, and the lightweight feel, you’ll leave the crag at the end of the day and forget you have your helmet on until you’re sitting at Milt’s enjoying a thick and delicious milkshake and everyone is staring at you.  Ok, maybe that’s a little bit of an extreme dramatization, but it is seriously so easy to forget you’re wearing the Vector helmet!

The best part of the Vector, in my opinion, is the easy to adjust ratcheting fit system. When you throw your helmet, time and time again, you will get a perfect fit to your head.  Not only is this comfortable, a properly fitting helmet is necessary for your safety!  The adjusters are even molded push buttons so they’re easy to get your fingers on.

The brim of the helmet is designed with the climber in mind. It barely comes into sight when you’re climbing or belaying. I’ve never worn a helmet that I forget I’m wearing, but this is one. It’s so lightweight, comfortable, and low-profile, it is very easy to forget about.

The helmets co-molded EPS foam along with polycarbonate shell keeps the helmet both light and provides optimal coverage; protecting your head in any situation you may find yourself in. I have yet to fall and hit my head with this helmet on but I know that when it happens (and it will, I’m not a very good climber!) that this helmet will protect my noggin.

The venting throughout the helmet allows for prime airflow in all the right places, and while I’ve only climbed with this helmet in about 75-degree weather, my head wasn’t sweating at all. In fact, I felt more of an airflow restriction when I was wearing my ball cap then when I had the Vector on! In contrast, if you had to layer up underneath the Vector, I think the ratchet adjuster quick fit system would let you do so and you would still get a performance fit.

The integrated headlamp clips are brilliant, and will ensure a secure attachment of your newest and brightest Black Diamond Headlamp. Adding to the comfort factor when you’re adventuring with the Vector Helmet on, you won’t have to finagle a headlamp onto your face in some annoying way.

If you’re looking for an affordable, feature-packed and comfortable climbing helmet, look no further than the Vector by Black Diamond. It’s lightweight and adjustable and you’ll forget you’re wearing it. It won’t break the bank, and you won’t break your brain.

Thank you for the revew. The only one with live photos showing the right color/shade of the helmet that is more close to grey than to white. All on line shop show photoshopped photos in white/blue. I buyed it on line. It arrivd in grey. I was really disappoined….. surfing on line, I could check the glacier blue is practically a light grey that changes shade in relation to the light.

Thanks for checking out the review! I would say it is most definitely light grey. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks!
