[Review] The Rachel Pant by Orage

Orage’s description of the Rachel Pant is too perfect not to use as they explain the Rachel pant as “a must have for any modern day steeze meister” (www.orage.com). I’m no steeze meister persay but these pants look amazing and feel amazing. They are comfortable, packed with features, and durable for any skiing or snowboarding excursion you’re going to undertake.

The fit is perfect, as they are long enough for someone like myself with long legs. They also include a couple of features that allow you to customize the fit to your personal preference. The hip adjusters are vital for a women’s pant, as we come in such an array of sizes. The Velcro tabs allow you to tighten or loosen the pants as quickly as you can scarf down a stack of slapjacks. At the cuff of the pants, there is a zippered expandable flap that allows for ample space or less space depending on the size or bulk of boot you have on. Totally tightened, the cuff fits just fine over my ski boots but I prefer to have it expanded so it’s easy to get to my buckles on each chair ride. The Rachel pant also includes gaiters on each leg, and I really couldn’t imagine a ski pant without the gaiters.

The quad pockets are perhaps one of my favorite features of the Rachel pant, as they are the perfect place to stash a phone while you’re getting ready for the day. I don’t typically use any other pockets while I’m skiing but if you do, the hand pockets and back pockets are a great place to stash some cash or Chap Stick.

I’ve been impressed with not only the style and design of Orage’s gear but also their support system. Incidentally, I had a huge crotch blow out in my pants (probably because my legs did the splits mid-air). I wasn’t sure it was from a fall I had, but it only made sense. Even with a hole in the crotch (it didn’t go through the outerlayer, just the inner layers), my crotch stayed warm on chilly days. I thought for sure I’d notice a cold draft. Anyways, Orage was really great to work with on the defective crotch and now I have a closed crotch again.

With a bit of insulation, the waterproof but breathable Rachel pant will help you stick out with steeze on the slopes. They are the perfect versatile pant for any condition you may find yourself in. Complete with thigh zips, you can cool down when you’re hot and zip up when you’re cold. The simple yet elegant stylistic features like logo-stamped leather make the Rachel pant a trendy and functional piece to add to your ski gear wardrobe.
