[Review] Pro Edition Intake System by Rottweiler Performance for KTM 790/890 (& Norden 901)

Possibly one of the most talked-about upgrades from Rottweiler Performance for the KTM 790/890 is the Pro Edition Intake System. This intake system, over stock, is more efficient, bumps up your horsepower (at 6300 RPM), seals appropriately, weighs less, and comes with a foam filter that you can clean and replace like you would a dirt bike filter.

For us, one of the huge benefits of going with Rottweiler’s Intake System is the removable filter that they created with non other than Twin Air Filters. Much like a dirt bike filter, you can easily remove the foam element, clean it, oil it, and throw it back on. If you’re on a longer trip, simply pack extra filters. Rottweiler states that you can fit up to six on a bike in the plastic side panels. This saves you time and saves your engine by not running dirty filters.

This intake has the ability to add up to 10 horsepower however it’s important to note that you won’t notice the increase until you’re above 6300 RPM. Even for us, it’s not that we necessarily need the 10 HP increase, but it’s nice to know it’s there if we do want or need it.

Another great benefit of this system is that you don’t need to remap your motorcycle for this 10 HP bump. You certainly can! But it is not a requirement and we liked that we could just install it and go without any custom mapping.

The Pro Edition Intake will save you 1.7 pounds over the stock intake. We have the Pro Intake paired with the Arrow Mid Pipe and Arrow Slip-On Exhaust (which is quite a big weight savings), we love how they perform and sound with this combination.

The Pro Edition Intake System is a clear win over the stock intake, especially because your stock system is prone to sealing issues that will cause expensive damage down the road. You can easily pack extra filters if you’re out on the road for a while and you’ll save a bit of weight over the stock intake. This install did take a bit more time than a simple bolt-on aftermarket part, but in true Rottweiler fashion, they have an amazing install video for you to reference.

We have reviewed quite a few Rottweiler Performance products that you can find here. We also plan to do a video on the Arrow Mid Pipe and Arrow Slip-On as well as more parts related to the 790/890, so be sure to hit that subscribe button so you don’t miss a video. If you make a purchase at Rottweiler Performance, we’d really appreciate it if you use our link and make a note on your order that we sent you.

*We received a discount on this gear in exchange for a review, however, it’s important to know that all thoughts are our own.
